Afan Adventure dog was concieved from the idea that every dog and owner should not only enjoy eachothers time whilst on the sofa but also whilst outside. The activities at Afan Adventure Dog provide people and canines with an opportunity to experince new things and build their confidence together through play and discovery.
As an owner of a reactive and nervous dog we understand the stress this can cause to your everyday life and sometimes it can be hard to see past your dogs difficult behaviour. Fynn and I discovered Joring and Mantrailing and through nurturing my dogs talents and natural skill he began to grow into a confident dog that I fell back in love with. Meet Afan Adventure Dog Instructor Cheri.
Hi, i've been working in the outdoors as an adventurous activities instructor for over 20 years. I'm qualified in Climbing, Walking, Caving, Paddle sports including SUP and Mountain biking.
I have experience of working with a very varied client group through my previous employments at a youth development charity and in social care.
To the left is my dog Fynn and the reason why Afan Adventure Dog exists. During the Covid lockdown Fynn started to struggle and his behaviour deteriorated further when the world came back to life.
With help from a local dog behaviorist I started to see the world through his eyes and my love of dog training and helping dogs to express their breeds needs, skills and capabilities grew.
I saw first hand the posistive impact on a dogs behaviour when they were able to take part in actvities such as Mantrailing and Bikejoring, so I decided to train and qualify to help others unlock their dogs skills and hapiness.
I am currently a qualified dog trainer in the following:
* Mantrailing UK Instructor
* Dog Parkour UK (advanced Instructor)
* Sportypaws Certified Bikejoring and Scootering Instructor
* Sportypaws Canicross Instructor
* Qualified Canine First Aider Trainer
I also hold Level 3 Qualifications in:
* Canine Communication
* Canine Behaviour
* Canine Anatomy & Physiology
* Understanding Canine Anxiety
* Canine Nutrition
* Outdoor First Aid
ALL OF OUR SESSIONS ARE DELIVERED USING REWARD BASED TECHNIQUES & POSITIVE REINFORCEMENT.
THE HAPPINESS & SAFETY IS OUR MAIN PRIORITY IN EVERYTHING WE DO.
Location
Based in the beautiful Afan valley South Wales, North of Port Talbot.
We operate our sessions in the Afan Valley and other locations in the Neath Port Talbot and Swansea area.
